The Brief: Heart + Hands Boutique has been creating custom designs for nearly 40 years. The goal was to develop a series of original silk patterns that would showcase the company’s custom capabilities and help market what could be created for clients.
My Approach: I created several original patterns specifically for production on silk, exploring a range of visual directions while keeping each design distinctive and expressive. From richly layered, illustrative florals to graphic black-and-white motifs, each pattern was developed with the qualities of silk in mind—including color, scale, movement and how the artwork would translate onto a finished garment.
Results: Several patterns were produced on silk, demonstrating the breadth of Heart + Hands’ custom design capabilities. The finished designs transformed original artwork into wearable pieces while giving the boutique compelling visual assets to market its bespoke offering and show clients what was possible through custom pattern and textile design.
